Modular visitor centres
High impact visitor centres with a real wow factor, designed and built offsite in Oxfordshire.
The unique, curved design of our ARC buildings mimic forms found in nature. We pair this with a naturally light-filled space and connections to nature to create an uplifting and welcoming experience for visitors and staff alike.
With our architect-designed, modular approach we can quickly design visitor centres that are both custom-built as well as cost effective. Our tried-and-tested manufacturing process ensures you receive a highly robust building built to precise production processes that exceeds building regulations.
We build approximately 95% of the entire building offsite, meaning that there is minimal disruption to your site operations as the time we require onsite for delivery and installation is usually a matter of days. Our visitor centres can also be connected to existing buildings using interlinking sections and covered walkways, if required. The modular design also means that our ARC buildings can be relocated to another site in the future if needed.
“As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, sustainability is incredibly important to the Vindolanda Trust, and we felt that there was a great fit with The ARC’s ethos.”

Visitor centre design
Requirements for visitor centres vary depending on location, the nature of the organisation, footfall and the typical visitor profile. So we work with every client on a custom design consultation to ensure that the different needs are factored in from the start. For visitor centres, sometimes that means incorporating an element of retail or a café area, or even a classroom or education centre.
We offer a lot of flexibility in our modular building design, and our team will be happy to discuss possible ideas and layouts with you. We can design your footfall forecasts into the build process so that you can grow your visitor centre over time.
Energy efficient and low carbon
Our design is as much focused on aesthetics as it is on creating a sustainable building with low embodied carbon and excellent energy efficiency.
We use high levels of insulation and focus on the building’s airtightness in order to maximise energy efficiency that will reduce your running costs.
Renewables – such as solar PV or heat pumps – can be incorporated into your visitor centre too.
